The steps given below will make you understand the entire procedure to run GUI - CHKDSK in Windows 8:

Step 1: The first step is right click on a drive which need to be repaired then go to its properties as shown below. Make sure all files are closed as CHKDSK tool doesn't run when volume is in use.

Step 2: The next step is to select the tool tab then click on check to verify if there is any error in the file system.

Step 3: After selecting the check button, below screen will appear which display a message 'if error is found or not' & asks you to scan the drive.

Step 4: Once you click on scan drive, a new screen will open which starts scanning the selected drive for file system error.

Step 5: When scanning is completed you will see a new window that display a message "Your drive was successfully scanned". You can either click on show details to see the result of CHKDSK in an event viewer or click on close to exit.
